The Institute of Polymer Engineers (IPE) has just conferred on the President with the prestigious status as Fellow of the Institute.
This conferment, which made Mr. President the first Fellow of IPE, was given in recognition of his contributions to polymer engineering and pioneering efforts in championing and getting Council to approve the establishment of the Institute.
It is instructive to note that the first division the President joined was the Institute of Plastics Engineering, UK. And ever since, the President has developed a soft spot for polymer engineering not just because of its industrial impacts but also environmental effects.
The President, in his vote of thanks, challenged the Institute to work towards proper disposal and utilization of plastics, which are indiscriminately dumped in our water ways.
He also urged the IPE to be interested with how Eleme and Warri polypropylene plants are faring, in terms of sourcing for raw materials or by-products for production to sustain its functionality.
Congratulations, Mr. President.
